About The Artist and Author

Robin Lysne, M.F.A., Ph.D.

         Robin Heerens Lysne has always been interested in ancestral history, creativity, and cultural change. Born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, her writing and art reflects the landscapes of the Midwest, and her love of California where she has lived since 1987.

            Robin is an author of seven books on topics of health, healing, metaphysics and poetry. Currently she is launching an “Ancestral Women’s Series,” with two works of historical fiction to bring to life the courage and wisdom of her Norwegian ancestors. The Legend of Randine: Entering the Sisterhood, is her first novel. The Legend of Randine: The Laerdal Letters, the second in the series, was published in April, 2022, through Blue Bone Books.  Her poetry has been published widely from North American Review to Rattle to Sand Canyon Review.

            A natural entrepreneur, in 2006 she founded a cooperative publishing house, Blue Bone Books (BBB), which publishes poetry and works by a variety of Northern California authors. BBB last poetry release is Unearthed, a book of poems from the Emerald Street Poets.

            Her education began as an art student in Milwaukee at the University of Wisconsin where she received her B.F.A. in painting and drawing. Moving to Michigan, she later became an art curator at the Ella Sharp Museum, in Jackson, Michigan, taught art through Michigan art centers, Art History at Jackson Community College, and was an exhibiting artists. As an artist she has shown widely from New York City to Santa Cruz, CA. Her artwork explores cultural and spiritual themes embedded in nature as well as abstractions inspired by human auras and energy healing.   

            In the late 1980’s she made her way to California for advanced studies in cultural change, energy medicine and creative writing. She earned her first Masters in Spirituality and Psychology from Holy Names University, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Mills College and a Ph.D. in Energy Medicine, through the University of Natural Medicine.

            Her interest in personal transformation extends into her work as a professional medium, psychic and energy medicine practitioner. In her 30 years experience she offers her clients safety, intuitive insight, compassion and mentoring.

            Based in Santa Cruz, CA, she attracts a global audience and gives lectures and workshops as an author, poet, meditation teacher, intuitive/medium, mentor, coach and exhibiting artist.
